My Broadcasting guide
Practice, practice, practice.
Practice matters in everything that we constantly want to get better at. It resonates well with the habit of broadcasters to efficiently bring out news that’s compelling, commanding, and informative/fun to hear and know more about.
Upon trying the tactics and practices that were presented by our Uni professor, it gives us a glimpse of how we can become that admirable broadcaster that most of us are dreaming about when graduating from Uni and start to work within the newsroom. Now I understand that there’s a lot more to improve with how I carry out practices and stand-uppers.
For starters, my pacing is way too fast that there’s dead space at the end of the prompter that’s the ideal speed. Another one to highlight with importance would also for me to work more on my commanding voice, which is according to Dr. Anne Utterback a great way to get the audiences hooked more and to clearly understand what’s being told to them.
I still have a lot to learn and work on but hey, it helps me to discover some specific techniques that work well with me and be more comfortable in finding that sweet spot along with tons of practice!
