As important as history is for the development of a country, the Philippines is marked by interventions of colonial forces, which their rules and authorities are for the greater good of the nation that was colonized.

Our motherland has been influenced and molded through its mentalities by colonial powers. Through different materials, cultures and beliefs, media was a weapon and a tool for war and discoveries about different developments in the country. Now tracing into the timeline of the Philippines’ press history, we would unravel different perspectives of colonization, technological advancements, political standpoints and economic landscapes.

Below is the sum up of the history of Philippine press from the first colonization of the Spaniards to the present age of the 21st century.
